Bone InFection or Osteomylitis
Bone Infections (osteomylitis) can be caused by a variety of microbial agents (bacteria, fungus). These usually enter from traumatic injuries or wounds. Rarely this can enter through the blood stream. Diagnosis of a bone infection should be performed by your foot an ankle doctor by physcial examination, blood tests, xrays and other imaging. Bone infections are usually treated with wound care, powerful medications or surgery. Seek urgent attention from your medical doctor if bone infection is a possibility.
